CompTIA Linux+
CompTIA is a solid organization with solid vendor-neutral certifications. These certifications are often created in partnerships and collaborations with industry leaders. Linux+ is no exception, as it is run in partnership by LPI (Linux Professional Institute).
CompTIA Linux+ associate-level certification validates the candidate’s knowledge and skills required for junior Linux administrators. This credential can also be used as a stepping stone to higher-level Linux certifications.
Candidates must pass two exams to become Linux+ certified.
LX0-101 covers system architecture, Linux Installation and Package Management; GNU commands; Linux filesystems; devices and the filesystem hierarchy standard.
LX0-102 covers shells and scripting; data management; user interfaces, desktops; administrative tasks; essential services; security; networking fundamentals; security.
CompTIA Linux+ certifications are conducted in partnership by LPI. Candidates may wish to have their CompTIA results forwarded to LPI. CompTIA Linux+ Powered By LPI certification allows candidates to also become certified in LPIC-1, allowing them to continue their participation in the LPI program if they choose.

Linux Professional Institute (LPI)
Linux Professional Institute (LPI), is a leader in the Linux operating systems. It offers comprehensive certifications in Linux topics and technologies.
The LPI Certification program, often abbreviated as LPIC, includes three levels:
LPIC-1 (Junior-Level Linux Certification): Covers basic Linux skills such as working at the command prompt, performing basic maintenance tasks and installing and configuring workstations (including X Windows), as well as making LAN or Internet connection. CompTIA Linux+ Powered By LPI has no prerequisites and 2 written exams.
LPIC-2 (Advanced Level Linux Certificate): Prerequisites are Linux+ or LPIC-1. This certification includes 2 exams that cover important Linux skills and topics such as the kernel, file system startup, file system, devices, advanced storage administration and network configuration. DNS as well DNS as well web services, file sharing and network client management. System security and troubleshooting are also covered.
LPIC-3 (Senior-Level Linux Certification): Prerequisite: LPIC-2. This exam is a single in the 300 series.
